THE WINDOW

Posted: under Inspirationals.

A great note for all to read; it will take just 30 seconds to read this and change your thinking.

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room’s only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation. Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live, for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm-in-arm amidst flowers of every color of the rainbow. Grand old trees graced the landscape, and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene. One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn’t hear the band - he could see it in his mind’s eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the world outside. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it for himself. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, “Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.”

Epilogue:
There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can’t buy.”Today is a gift, that’s why it is called the present.”

IT’S IN THE VALLEYS I GROW

Posted: under Inspirational Poetry.

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It’s then I have to remember
That it’s in the valleys I grow.

+ + +

If I always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God’s love
And would be living in vain.

+ + +

I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it’s in the valleys I grow.

+ + +

I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.

+ + +

My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan’s loss.

+ + +

Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I’m feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it’s in the valleys I grow.

+ + +

Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.

+ + +

Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it’s in the valleys I grow!

YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS

Posted: under "A Slice Of Life".

THINK ON THESE THINGS
Delve Into Your Subconscious

You may be philosophical as you ponder matters that affect your life. It might seem that by digging deeper into the underlying issues of what makes you tick, you can come to a greater understanding about your life purpose. Thinking about your life by first letting your subconscious tell you what you really need to know and then reflecting more consciously about the information you receive could stimulate greater insights into your reason for being. Perhaps you can free the will of your subconscious through freewriting—writing everything you think about without stopping, censoring, or correcting yourself. Creating a question related to the issue you wish to explore more deeply and writing for 10 minutes could give you food for thought that can help you investigate your concerns more thoroughly.

Freewriting is a powerful tool for unlocking the ideas, thoughts, and information we have hidden in our subconscious. Giving ourselves times to simply put our ideas down on paper without thinking about preparing a perfectly formed answer allows us to access the inner reaches of our subconscious. Rather than paying attention to the thoughts in our minds, once we have gotten into the process we begin to listen to the yearning of our hearts and souls. It is this information that can help us dig deeper into what our souls want out of life and what purpose the universe wishes us to serve. Delving into your subconscious today will direct you to the questions and answers you should explore in order to achieve your life’s purpose.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

“I want to squeeze every last drop out of life, but I’m only interested in more time if it can be filled with meaning and joy and creative thinking. In other words, I’d like to hang on to my energy and focus for as long as humanly possible…and then some.”
–Oprah Winfrey

LEVEL-HEADED PRUDENCE

Posted: under "A Slice Of Life".

Feeling prudent could lead you to being level-headed when it comes to financial decisions. You may even lean toward the conservative side of the spectrum of choice. As long as you don’t allow yourself to become overly careful from a sense of fear, there is nothing wrong with taking the time to wisely consider your options and choose the safest of them. This is especially true when you are following the guidance of your intuition, which when combined with your worldly knowledge, is the best information available. It pays great dividend to be level headed when you are balanced between body, mind and spirit.

Financial decisions may encourage us to choose more carefully, but the same laws are at work in every area of our lives. We may feel that our finances have greater weight in the real world, but that is only because we have learned to associate so fully with its symbolism. Love is equally as powerful, though its worldly value may not seem as concrete. All of it is energy that follows the same laws whether in the realm of material reality or in the emotional and spiritual sphere. In recognizing this, we utilize our inner wisdom to make the best and most balanced decisions for ourselves as well as for those we care about. Prudence involves weighing all your choices between your inner and outer worlds and recognizing the value of energy in all of them.

A SCRIPTURE A DAY…

Posted: under "A Scripture A Day Keeps The Devil Away".

It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
(Hebrews 9:27-28)
