Today’s message:
“I know, squat!”
By Bob Perks
I have a rule about bugs, insects. I will never kill
one outside. Or at least I will make every effort
not to. In my house is another story. Well, I have
been known to save the life of a bee many times.
Spiders, too. For the most part.
After my encounter yesterday, I have a new respect
for them.
I watch the world around me with a magnifying glass.
No I don’t actually use one, but I look closer than
most people.
I was cleaning one of our windows and came across a
tiny spider sitting in one corner. I could have easily
just squashed it, but instead I got a tissue to try and
capture it to take outside.
“This is my house…that is yours,” is what I usually say.
Upon my approach, I saw it begin to move. It crawled to
the edge, squatted down, and then down it went.
I ran my finger across the window and connected with the
nearly invisible thread it was making. It stopped and made
its way over to the window. Once again it squatted,
paused for a moment and began to glide toward the floor.
I repeated it one more time.
It did, too.
It actually squats and sticks the web to the surface before
proceeding. Because it was created to do this, it never
questions whether or not the thread will hold.
It just knows it will.
Okay, so what did I get from this. You are waiting to see
what life changing lesson I learned from a spider.
Here it is.
Before moving on, always sit for a moment, think about what
you want to do, where you want to go, then, sticking to that
plan, step out and hang on to that dream.
If life cuts your journey short, no matter how many times,
repeat those steps until you finally get to where you want to go.
A spider was created to be a spider. It does what it was created
to do. Just like a bee, a fly, a bird. They can only be what they
were created to be. Try as hard as it might, a bird cannot become
a lion nor an ant, a giraffe.
You, my friend, were created the same way, but you can be whatever
you want to be. You can be more than you are now.
Okay, you can’t become a lion either. But you can become anything
humanly possible.
Sit down before you journey, stick to your plan and hang on.
“I believe in you!”
