Today’s message:
“Pretend it’s Summer”
By Bob Perks
And then…
I turned and there you were in all your magnificence.
As perfect as I dreamed and I, with all my imperfections
glaring, nervously approached you.
I have been waiting all this time and now, as winter
approaches, I find you.
Unfair! Cruel!
Ah, such is life sometimes.
Why now? Why did I discover you so late?
There could have been so much more time to appreciate
what we both have to offer.
There is nothing you had to do but be yourself.
I, on the other hand, would have spent the summer caring
for you, nurturing, loving, protecting you.
But no, this is our fate!
Forgive me for not having seen you before. This is my
fault.
What? Perhaps it was meant to be? Impossible.
Still, I understand. Maybe another day, another time,
earlier, later…it wouldn’t have been the same.
Yes, I needed you today, maybe more than yesterday, last
week, or the hot days of July.
Yes, don’t waste time on what might have been.
Be grateful for what is.
Odds are that this chance meeting should not have been at all.
All the others are long gone.
It is a cold, snowy day here. The wind and rain
slap against my cheeks and I, feeling despair,
discover the last rose of summer.
“I needed you. You needed me, too. Come inside
where it is warm and we will pretend it’s summer.”
“I believe in you!”

“I Wish You enough!”

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear
much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough “Hello’s” to get you through the final “Goodbye.”
