Hello, my Friend!
Well here we go again.  The Holidays and
everything that goes with it.  Moans, groans

and sometimes family.
I realize that so many of you, my “friends I’ve
never met,” are from all around the world and
have your own special family gatherings different
than our American Thanksgiving.
Please know that you will still be a part of it.  You
are among the great things I am forever thankful
for and I promise to remember you in prayer.

Love always and all ways,
Bob, Marianne, Ricky, Lucy and Phil

“The Inconvenient Family”
By Bob Perks
So, this is what I’m hearing.
“I get too many invitations.”
“I don’t even want to be there if she is going to be there.”
“I’d rather be with a bunch of strangers than to spend it
with family.”
There is even one local news anchor who has been quite
open about not wanting to go to Thanksgiving dinner with his family.
He’s not that good.  They probably don’t even watch him.
When did traditional family gatherings suddenly become
so inconvenient, so disliked, so taboo?
Sure some of us have every right and probably a long list
of reasons why family is not important to you.  I imagine some
true horror stories, too.
Yes, we all have a family member who is too…loud, vulgar,
smelly, abusive, drunk, rude or simply not much fun to be around.
Still, they are family.
I can also guarantee you that there are millions who would give
anything to have a family to share a meal with.
I could tell the holidays were approaching by the sounds of
griping and moaning, cursing and swearing, complaining
and arguing.
We make excuses for the younger members of the family because
“He is at that age…”
Help him to grow up and begin taking responsibility for his role in
family.
“Well, their old now and want to do what they want to do.”
So, they want to turn their backs on family now?  I promise you
that when that “final moment” comes they’ll expect everyone to be
there holding their hands and praising them for their strong
family values.
“Well, everyone is too busy.”
Too busy for family?
When did love become so inconvenient?
Call them.  Visit them.  Invite them.  Love them, like family.
If you’re spending Thanksgiving by yourself tomorrow, drop me an email.
I promise I’ll reply.  Marianne and I are having dinner with our family,
Ricky, Lucy and Phil.   Our dogs.
We’ll all be here, I promise.
From my family to yours…”Happy Thanksgiving!”
“I believe in you!”
Bob

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear
much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough “Hello’s” to get you through the final “Goodbye.”
