A heads-up if you are a frequent gift card purchaser for the holidays.
Several stores plan to close in January and gift cards will no
longer be honored after the holidays. There is no law preventing
retailers from selling gift cards, which may become worthless as early as
January 1, 2009. Buyer beware, this practice is referred to as
‘Bankruptcy Planning” and you need to be cautious when making purchases
this holiday season.
