Strength For The Journey

God has furnished us with what we need, to bring

peace to the soul and vitality to our spirit.

In the remarkable economy of His creativeness,

that strength comes to us by

the same avenue that gives us the

certainty of our forgiveness.

And more, it is the same means by which

we are fortified for the hazards of

day-to-day existence.

Our lives are filled with troubles.

We can be beaten down and depressed

by our frailties and anxieties.

But through God’s Word, we receive

sufficient grace ~

the spiritual nourishment that comforts

our troubled souls,

strengthens our Christian walk,

and forgives us all our sins.

We need to avail ourselves of Jesus’

spiritual food regularly,

so we can continue on life’s journey.

As vehicles, planes, and trains

cannot run forever without regular refueling

stops, neither can our bodies go

without daily refreshment.

And our spirit, also, needs to be

refueled, refreshed, and resupplied

by regular, frequent stops in God’s Word.

When we do this, we can go on in peace,

having the strength we need

for the journey ahead of us.
