Bo had a secret get-acquainted session with the family at the White House a few weeks ago.
|
Bo is the Obama’s new puppy.
..
The little guy is a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog given to the Obama girls as a gift by that Portuguese water dog-lovin’ senator himself, Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts. The girls named it Bo — and let it be noted that you learned that here first. Malia and Sasha chose the name, because their cousins have a cat named Bo and because first lady Michelle Obama’s father was nicknamed Diddley, a source said. (Get it? Bo . . . Diddley?)
..
Bo’s a handsome little guy. Well suited for formal occasions at the White House, he’s got tuxedo-black fur,
with a white chest, white paws and a rakish white goatee.

U.S. President Barack Obama (top) pets Bo, a six-month old male Portuguese water dog, as daughter Sasha looks on in this White House photograph released April 12, 2009. The dog was a gift from Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy (D) and his wife Victoria to the Obama girls.

This undated handout photo provided by Sen. Edward Kennedy’s office shows Sen. Kennedy holding his 13-week old Portuguese water dog named Cappy. In what was one of the White House’s most tightly kept secrets, President Barack Obama’s daughters, 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha, have settled on a black and white pup. The dog, a gift from Kennedy who owns several Portuguese water dogs himself, will make his big debut Tuesday afternoon.
