How many times have we picked up United States’ coins or currency and noticed the verbiage “In God We Trust?” As Christians what if we were required to have our foreheads imprinted with the words “In God We Trust?” Could we boldly wear that imprint, or would we be living a lie?
..
Proverbs 3:5-6 tell us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Most of us like to think that we do that, but when the mortgage is due and God hasn’t answered our prayers by 5 p.m. on Friday, if we trust God, why do we need a Plan B?
..
I have a friend who, whenever I share my ideas and thoughts with her, always asks: “And, if that doesn’t work, what’s Plan B?” She sometimes gets upset with me because I’m learning to live without a Plan B. Don’t get me wrong, I know that if I plan to take the Amtrak to Washington D.C., I can’t just sit in a chair and expect to arrive at my destination because I trust that God will get me there. There’s some human responsibility that needs to occur. It’s prudent and

.
* A–Accept *
Accept others for who they are and for the choices they’ve made even if you have difficulty understanding their beliefs, motives, or actions.

Break away from everything that stands in the way of what you hope to accomplish with your life.
.
*C–Create *
Create a family of friends whom you can share your hopes, dreams, sorrows, and happiness with.
.
*D–Decide *
Decide that you’ll be successful and happy come what may, and good things will find you. The roadblocks are only minor obstacles along the way.
.
*E–Explore *
Explore and experiment. The world has much to offer, and you have much to give. And every time you try something new, you’ll learn more about yourself.
.
*F–Forgive *
Forgive and forget. Grudges only weigh you down and inspire unhappiness and grief. Soar above it, and remember that everyone makes mistakes.
.
*G–Grow *

.
*H–Hope *
Hope for the best and never forget that anything is possible as long as you remain dedicated to the task.

Journey to new worlds, new possibilities, by remaining open-minded. Try to learn something
new every day, and you’ll grow.
.
*K–Know *
Know that no matter how bad things seem, they’ll always get better. The warmth of spring always follows the harshest winter.
.
*L–Love *
Let love fill your heart instead of hate. When hate is in your heart, there’s room for nothing else, but when love is in your heart, there’s room for endless happiness.
.
*M–Manage *
Manage your time and your expenses wisely, and you’ll suffer less stress and worry. Then you’ll be able to focus on the important things in life.

When was the last time you were challenged to do something really…
well… great?

President Abraham Lincoln helped me to understand that there is a
bit of greatness within all of us. It is said that he often slipped
out of the White House on Wednesday evenings to listen to the
sermons of Dr. Phineas Gurley at New York Avenue Presbyterian
Church.
.
He generally preferred to come and go unnoticed, so when Dr.
Gurley knew the president was coming, he left his study door open.
On one of those occasions, the president quietly entered through a
side door of the church, took his seat in the minister’s study,
located just off the sanctuary, and propped the door open just wide
enough to hear the preacher.
.
During the walk home one Wednesday evening, an aide asked Mr.
Lincoln his appraisal of the sermon. The president thoughtfully
replied, “The content was excellent… he delivered with
eloquence… he had put work into the message..”
.
“Then you thought it was an excellent sermon?” questioned the aide.

None of you have children/grandchildren who “sag” their pants but maybe you know of someone who does. This would be a good thing to read at a Youth Program.

Letter from a college student
The other day, a friend of mine was visiting me in the lobby of my dorm just to chat while her laundry was drying. As we were chatting, two young freshmen came by. One of the boys wanted to ‘talk’ to my friend (as in date). She asked him how old they were, and both of the boys replied 18. My friend and I both laughed because we are both 22 years old. After my friend left, the young men were still hanging around and one wanted to know how he could gain her interest.
The first thing I told him to do was to pull up his pants! He asked why, and then he said “I liked saggin’ my pants”. I told them to come over to my computer and spell the word saggin’. Then I told him to write the word saggin’ backwards.
