I have a fond memory of the love of my life and me taking a walk in the woods shortly after high school graduation. We were attending a Memorial Day weekend picnic with some friends of his and we broke away from the group to take a stroll through the woods. I don’t recall the name of the park we were in, but I do know that I had never been there before. As we walked, talked and laughed our way through a pathway that was unfamiliar to me, I was engrossed in our conversation and was looking down. I remember feeling like I was in the one of the most peaceful and tranquil settings when suddenly, my friend stopped, stepped in front of me and gently pushed me back. I didn’t know why until I looked up. I was about to run smack into a large branch that was eye-level and probably would have rendered me unconscious.
..
Shocked, I looked up at him as he asked, “Didn’t you see that branch?” I had not. I was not paying attention to where I was going. I was blindly following this young man that I loved and trusted. I felt comfortable and secure with him. I knew that he cared for me and that he would get me safely back to our group.
..
That memory of trusting someone and feeling protected is not unlike our walk with God. In faith, we allow God to take control of our lives and lead us on journeys, through the unfamiliar pathways and woods of life. We put our trust in Him knowing that He will not

Good Morning Sunshine!
No, not the sun…YOU!
You are a bright and shining example of
God’s love. Now, go and brighten
someone’s day just by being you.
.
Make it a great week!
My best to you, always.

“Is Anyone Listening?”
By Bob Perks
.
“How are you today?”
“I’m fine, how are you?”
“I’m not so good today.”
.
Silence.
.
Most of the time we take conversations like this
as simple chit-chat. Nice words spoken as a
courtesy without real concern or obligation.
.
“How are you today?” he asks the next person.
“I’m doing great! How are you?”
“I’ve been better,” he repiled.
.
He rings up the sale, hands her the bag and
she leaves.
.
The next person moves up, “How are you today?”

1. Maybe. . .we were supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.
2. Maybe . . . when the door of happiness closes, another opens; but, often times, we look so long at the closed door that we don’t even see the new one which has been opened for us.
3. Maybe . . . it is true that we don’t know what we have until we lose it, but it is also true that we don’t know what we have been missing until it arrives.
4. Maybe . . . the happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

The family will be getting a new addition next month, first lady says

Obama says the family is looking for a Portuguese water dog — like this one, a competitor at this month’s Westminster Kennel Club show — who is “old enough” and a “match” for the family dynamic.

The whole world, it seems, wants to know: What kind of dog are the Obamas getting and, for goodness sake, when?
…
Speaking to PEOPLE at the White House recently, Michelle Obama leaned in and confided: “You’re getting some scoops here.”

A stranger was seated next to a little black girl on the airplane
when the stranger turned to her and said, “Let’s talk. I’ve heard
that
flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow
passenger.”
… The little girl, who had just opened her coloring book, closed itslowly and said to the stranger, “What would you like to talkabout?”

Today’s message:
“Sometimes”
By Bob Perks
*****************
“It is how I was raised. Now that I look back
I see how limiting that was and wonder how much
more I could have accomplished,” he said.
“What’s stopping you now?” I asked.
It was a simple word but in his childhood it
was more of a philosophy.
Sometimes.
I watched that day as two men played cards in
a nearby park. It was a warm, sunny day blessed
with an occasional breeze just when you needed it.
I saw it as the kind of day I would rather be resting
in a lounge chair in my yard with a cool drink within
reach. Eyes closed, baseball cap tilted slightly
over my eyes to shade them from the sun.
Here I was, walking in the park perhaps in search of
the perfect tree to sit under while watching the
world go by. It is another one of my favorite
things to do; watch the world go by.
