“Solace at Sunset”
By Bob Perks
.
Life appears empty sometimes. Times like losing
a job, ending a marriage, loss of a loved one, or
financial collapse.
.
All endings. I guess that’s it. Things that end remain
empty and hard to fill, replace or let go.
.
Then how do you explain sunsets?
.
It is indeed an end to something or many things. The
day ends, the celebration concludes, the band stops
playing, the dance is over, the lights go out and we
“call it a day.”
.
Seems empty to me.
.
Why then do we love sunsets?
.
It seems to go so fast when you don’t want the day
to end and much too slow when you can’t wait for it
to be over.
.
My curiosity asked “How long is a sunset?”
My searching found this answer. Rather factual,

Today we are proud to share a chapter from The Power of Attitude by Mac Anderson. In honor of the Olympics, we would like to share a story about an athlete who did not win his event. However, he finished, despite great difficulty…and, as you’ll see, sometimes finishing against great adversity can be a bigger challenge than finishing first. Sometimes, true courage is revealed through completing the race.

Please enjoy an inspiring story about Derrick Redmond.

The Power of Attitude

August 1992. Derrick Redmond from Great Britain was favored to win the 400-meter race during the summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, but as he powered around the backstretch his hamstring snapped. Good Morning Sunshine!
No, not the sun…YOU!
You are a bright and shining example of
God’s love. Now, go and brighten
someone’s day just by being you.
.
Make it a great week!
My best to you, always.

“Is Anyone Listening?”
By Bob Perks
.
“How are you today?”
“I’m fine, how are you?”
“I’m not so good today.”

Silence.
.
Most of the time we take conversations like this
as simple chit-chat. Nice words spoken as a
courtesy without real concern or obligation.
.
“How are you today?” he asks the next person.
“I’m doing great! How are you?”
“I’ve been better,” he repiled.
.
He rings up the sale, hands her the bag and
she leaves.
.
The next person moves up, “How are you today?”

Today’s message:
“All she had was a broken heart”
By Bob Perks
…
She walked into the room and his eyes lit
up. She didn’t have to say a word, her
being there was proof enough that she loved
him. They had both lost someone they loved.
So this day of all days was a difficult one.
She wanted to make this work. She was hurt,
lonely and afraid. It wasn’t supposed to be
this way.
…
But the fact was he knew how she felt. There
was an obvious pain in his heart, too. So the
one thing that strengthened their love for each
other was heartache, the most sorrowful kind.
