.
A woman was walking along the beach when she stumbled upon a
Genie’s lamp.
..
She picked it up, rubbed it & a Genie appeared. The amazed woman
asked if she was entitled to three wishes.
..
The Genie said “No. Due to inflation, constant downsizing, low
wages in third world countries & fierce global competition, I can
only grant you one wish. So what’ll it be?”
..
The woman didn’t hesitate. She said “I want peace in the Middle
East. See this map? I want these countries to stop fighting with
each other.”
..
The Genie looked at the map & exclaimed “Gadzooks, lady! These
countries have been at war for thousands of years. I’m good, but
not THAT good! I don’t think it can be done. Make another wish.”
..
The woman thought for a minute and said, “Well, I’ve never been

The Bible gives timeless advice and direction on how to live a godly life
..
My granddaughter has a Nintendo DS. My grandson had a PlayStation, but he broke the screen. Now he wants to play with her Nintendo DS all the time. I have warned both of them against this. They don’t share well. If something happens to her Nintendo DS, she’s going to be upset and he’s going to have to pay for it. Despite my warnings, she continues to let him play with it.
..
This morning she was looking for her Nintendo, and discovered that her brother had taken it to school which, of course, is not allowed by me or the school. So, the tears started falling because now she’s afraid it’s going to get taken away.
..
I warned them that no good would come of this, but they didn’t listen. Now, he’s broken two rules—mine and the school’s—and she is in tears.
..
Isn’t this scenario similar to our Christian walk? The Bible provides us with a roadmap to life. The Book of Psalms and Proverbs, in particular, are filled with timeless warnings, instruction and guidelines for living fruitful, fulfilling and godly lives. But we don’t listen, or we bend the rules to make them more accommodating. Then, when we don’t heed the instructions or warnings in the Bible, we cry foul and wonder what went wrong.
..
After a morning of my granddaughter’s tears and turmoil, I found myself searching Scripture to get me back to my place of peace, and I found what I needed. Psalm 85:8 reads, “I will listen to what God the Lord will say; He promises peace to His Read More

Albert Einstein said that wonder is the source of all true art and all
science. “He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer
pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes
are closed.”I remember standing in rapt awe when I gazed upon the wonders of the
ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu in Peru. That amazing city was
built above the clouds, and it was more than the high altitude that
took my breath away. Can you say, “Awe”? I’m reminded of the little girl who rode a train with her mother. Read More

A Scout Master was teaching his boy scouts about survivalin the desert. “What are the three most important things
you should bring with you in case you get lost in the
desert?” he asked.
Several hands went up, and many important things were
suggested such as food, matches, etc. Then one little
boy in the back eagerly raised his hand. “Yes Davey,
what are the three most important things you would bring
with you?” asked the Scout Master.

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.
…
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements and to store his few possessions.
…
But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky.
…
The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. “God, how could you do this to me!” he cried.
