I’m not sure I can always tell love from passion. One father said of
his teenaged son, “I don’t know if he’s in love or in heat!” What
teenager would know? Besides, feelings of attraction can change more
quickly than a pouty expression. But love, in its truest form, is greater than feelings. It is as much
a decision as it is a feeling.Love is what Mr. and Mrs. Strauss shared. Mrs. Isadore Strauss was one
of the few first class women passengers to go down with the Titanic in

Midwife delivers career switch at 45
Published: Monday | March 16, 2009
..
If life begins at 40, as is the mantra of the archetypal career woman, Verona Grant-Brissett strapped up to get in the game just after the opening whistle had blown.
..
But time has never been on her side.
..
A topsy-turvy life from serving as a pre-teen surrogate mother and cleaning floors to survive meant sacrificing her dreams early on. Later, Grant-Brissett was told she was too old to don her whites and become a nurse. Guess who’s laughing now?

– Our Loving Friend — Romans 5:6-11
…
Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, and many people no doubt received cards, gifts, or kind words from friends and family. But no matter how tender our expressions of affection can be, human love pales in comparison to Jesus’ divine love, which He demonstrated by dying on the cross to save us.

Here are some ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day free of romantic pressure:
…
Don’t limit yourself to tradition. No matter how many ads you see for diamond jewelry or fancy cologne, despite how many boxes of chocolate and bottles of wine you walk past in the stores, nothing says that you have to buy traditional Valentine’s Day products to have a romantic holiday. By the same token, there’s no reason you can’t celebrate a fulfilling holiday without investing in expensive traditional Valentine’s Day experiences like eating out and taking trips. Be creative. If you have an idea that doesn’t fit the mold of what’s traditionally considered romantic, go ahead and pursue it anyway. For example, maybe you and your spouse are looking forward to choosing materials for a home improvement project you plan to work on together. In that case, you both might actually enjoy spending Valentine’s Day shopping at hardware store, however unromantic that might seem to others.

Gladdening Nourishment
Silliness
…
Children appreciate all that is silly as a matter of course. Their grasp of humor is instinctual, and even the smallest absurdities provoke joyous gales of earnest laughter. As we age, this innate ability to see the value of silliness can diminish. Work takes precedence over play, and we have less incentive to exercise our imaginative minds by focusing on what is humorous. When we remember childhood, we may recall the pleasures of donning funny costumes, reciting nonsense poems, making up strange games, or playing pretend. This unabashed silliness nourished our vitality and creativity. We can take in this nourishment once again by giving ourselves permission to lighten up and be silly.
