.

The Buzzard:

.

If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

.

The Bat:

.

The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.

.

The Bumblebee:

.

A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find

Doing For Others

Solace In Service
Doing For Others
.
When we feel bad, often our first instinct is to isolate ourselves and focus on what’s upsetting us. Sometimes we really do need some downtime, but many times the best way to get out of the blues quickly is to turn our attention to other people. In being of service to others, paradoxically, we often find answers to our own questions and solutions to our own problems. We also end up feeling more connected to the people around us, as well as empowered by the experience of helping someone.
.
When we reach out to people we can help, we confirm that we are not alone in our own need for support and inspiration, and we also remind ourselves that we are powerful and capable in certain ways. Even as our own problems or moods get the better of us sometimes, there is always someone else who can use our particular gifts and energy to help them out. They, in turn, remind us that we are not the only people in the world with difficulties or issues. We all struggle with the problems of life, and we all feel

P.U.S.H. - Pray Until Something Happens

Posted: under "Life is precious handle with PRAYER!".

There is great power and great deliverance through prayer. The pages
of the Bible are lined with examples:

• Moses prayed and God spared Israel from judgment.
• Joshua prayed and God caused the sun to stand still.
• Hannah prayed and God gave her a baby boy named Samuel.
• Solomon prayed and God gave him wisdom.
• Hezekiah prayed & God added 15 years to his life.
• Elijah prayed and God sent fire down from Heaven.
• Jonah prayed and God brought him out of the belly of the big fish.
• The thief on the cross prayed and God gave him eternal life.

Through prayer:

• There is no problem that cannot be solved.
• There is no sickness that cannot be healed.
• There is no burden that cannot be lifted.
• There is no storm that cannot be calmed.
• There is no sorrow that cannot be comforted.
• There is no sinner that cannot be saved.
• There is no hurt that cannot be mended.
• There is no fallen that cannot be lifted.

Distribute this widely — esp. to your Senators and Congressmen –Maybe the American populace will win after all.

THIS guy wins my vote.

* * *

“I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG. Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to American citizens in a “We Deserve It” Dividend.”

**********

To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000 bona-fide U.S. Citizens 18 and over. Our population is about 301,000,000 (+/-) counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up. If you divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon – ta da! -that equals $425,000.00 per adult.

**********

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a “We Deserve It” Dividend.

**********

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%. Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

**********

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket. A husband and wife has $595,000.00. What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

**********

Pay off your mortgage – housing crisis solved.

**********

Repay college loans – what a great boost to new grads AND the banks.

**********

Put away money for college – it’ll be there, safe in a bank – creating money to loan to entrepreneurs.

**********

Buy a new car – pump up the flagging automotive industry.

**********

Invest in the market – capital drives growth.

**********

Pay for your parent’s medical insurance – the health care system is crashing.

**********

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean – or else.

THE WAY FAMILIES WIN

Posted: under "A Slice Of Life".

Winston Churchill said, “We shall fight on the beaches, we shall
fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the
streets, we shall fight in the hills.” And humorist Bob Orben added,
“That sounds a lot like our family vacations.” And for some people it
sounds a lot like everyday life.

The problem is not whether we who live in families will have
squabbles, arguments and fights. My worry is more whether those
conflicts will end anytime soon. I don’t want home life to become the
Hundred Years’ War - going on and on with no end in sight while the
casualties mount. Conflicts need to have an ending so that the family
can get about its real business.

At one point during a game, the coach said to one of his young
players, “Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?” The
little boy nodded yes.

“Do you understand that what matters is whether we win together as a
team?” The little boy nodded yes.

PORTRAIT OF A FRIEND

Posted: under Friendship Poetry.
Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I can’t give solutions to all of
life’s problems, doubts, or fears.
But I can listen to you and
together we will search for answers.

+ + +

I can’t change your past
with all it’s heartache and pain,
nor the future with it’s untold stories.
But I can be there now
when you need me to care.

+ + +

I can’t keep your
feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand
that you may grasp it
and not fall.

+ + +

Your joys, triumphs, success,
and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.

+ + +

Your decisions in life are not mine
to make, nor to judge;
I can only support you, encourage you,
and help you when you ask.

+ + +

I can’t prevent you from
falling away from friendship,
from your values, from me.
I can only pray for you,
talk to you, and wait for you.

+ + +

I can’t give you boundaries
which I have determined for you,
But I can give you the room to change,
room to grow,
room to be yourself.

+ + +

I can’t keep your heart
from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you
and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

+ + +

I can’t tell you who you are.
I can only love you and be your friend.

Thank you for being such a wonderful friend.
