None of you have children/grandchildren who “sag” their pants but maybe you know of someone who does. This would be a good thing to read at a Youth Program.

Letter from a college student
The other day, a friend of mine was visiting me in the lobby of my dorm just to chat while her laundry was drying. As we were chatting, two young freshmen came by. One of the boys wanted to ‘talk’ to my friend (as in date). She asked him how old they were, and both of the boys replied 18. My friend and I both laughed because we are both 22 years old. After my friend left, the young men were still hanging around and one wanted to know how he could gain her interest.
The first thing I told him to do was to pull up his pants! He asked why, and then he said “I liked saggin’ my pants”. I told them to come over to my computer and spell the word saggin’. Then I told him to write the word saggin’ backwards.

Jamaicans overseas urged to invest in country
Published: Saturday | May 23, 2009

Jamaicans overseas are being urged to invest in their country to help the island weather the current financial hurricane sweeping the globe.
Speaking at the 2009 Jamaica National Building Society’s (JNBS) Outlook for The Future series in London and Birmingham, Jamaican officials said the island was ripe with investment opportunities and needed home-grown investors to capitalise on them.
“It’s an investment paradise as well as a tourism paradise,” said Laurence Jones, regional head of the European arm of the Jamaica Trade Investment (JTI). He told scores of Jamaicans and their descendants, who came out to the Royal Geographical Society in London, that “this is the time we need you to show your commitment to Jamaica”.

After 60 years, dedicated worker receives Medal of Appreciation

Published: Saturday | May 23, 2009
.
After over 60 years of ardent and dedicated service to both primary and adult education in Jamaica, 87-year-old Yolande Jackson still finds time to teach.
Although Jackson said goodbye to the classroom many years ago, she has not been able to turn her back on the numerous students who still look to her for knowledge.
She admits that having been the child of two educators and the widow of a vice-principal, teaching was undoubtedly in her blood.
“They always find me and I can’t say no, I still assist them,” she said. “Parents will often come to me and ask me to help their children in certain areas and I will have classes with them at my home,” she told The Gleaner.

Solace In Service
Doing For Others
.
When we feel bad, often our first instinct is to isolate ourselves and focus on what’s upsetting us. Sometimes we really do need some downtime, but many times the best way to get out of the blues quickly is to turn our attention to other people. In being of service to others, paradoxically, we often find answers to our own questions and solutions to our own problems. We also end up feeling more connected to the people around us, as well as empowered by the experience of helping someone.
.
When we reach out to people we can help, we confirm that we are not alone in our own need for support and inspiration, and we also remind ourselves that we are powerful and capable in certain ways. Even as our own problems or moods get the better of us sometimes, there is always someone else who can use our particular gifts and energy to help them out. They, in turn, remind us that we are not the only people in the world with difficulties or issues. We all struggle with the problems of life, and we all feel

If I call you friend,
You will always share a piece
of my heart.
I will always pride myself,
To always be true to you.
As much as I need friends,
So must you.
*+*
I will also share a place in your heart,
To be there whenever you need me.
I may not be there in flesh,
But I will always be there in spirit.
*+*
I will cope with your moods,
And try to understand your needs.
