THE LORD’S BASEBALL GAME

Freddy and the Lord stood by to observe a baseball game. The Lord’s team was playing Satan’s team.

The Lord’s team was at bat, the score was tied zero to zero, and it was the bottom of the 9th inning with two outs. They continued to watch as a batter stepped up to the plate named ‘Love.’

Love swung at the first pitch and hit a single, because ‘Love never fails.’

The next batter was named Faith, who also got a single because Faith works with Love.

The next batter up was named Godly Wisdom. Satan wound up and threw the first pitch.

Kevin is a boy who might be described as “slow.” He didn’t learn his
ABCs as fast as other kids. He couldn’t compete in schoolyard races.
But Kevin had a way with people. His bright smile and big heart won
him plenty of friends.

My friend Randy, the pastor at Kevin’s church, decided they needed a
basketball team for boys. Kevin signed on and soon basketball became
a center of his life. He practiced hard. While the other boys worked
at dribbling the basketball and shooting lay-ups, skills Kevin would
never master, he simply shot baskets. Or more correctly, he threw
the ball AT the basket. He had a special spot near the free throw
line. He threw and threw, and it occasionally went in. On the rare
times that he succeeded, Kevin raised his arms and shouted, “Look at
me, Coach! Look at me!” Randy looked at him. And smiled.

World record holder Usain Bolt has shattered the world record on the first anniversary of when he set it in Beijing , China. Bolt ran a superb 9.58 to win, removing the 9.69 record he set last year at the Olympic games. This the third world record Bolt has set in the 100m.

American Tyson Gay was second while Bolt’s Jamaican team mate Asafa Powell was third in the final, which ended today’s track events at the World Championships in Berlin, Germany.

Gay ran 9.71 to place second setting a new national record for the US, while Powell ran 9.84 to get the bronze medal. Both athletes have given Jamaica its first two medals at this World Championships.

Both athletes celebrated with dance moves inside the stadium while the crowd cheered.

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania:
Edwin Allen High School turned in a magnificent display to record double victories while capturing Championship of Americas titles at the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania, Franklin Field, yesterday.
The quartet of Nikita Tracey, Amoy Blake, Shashawna French and Ristananna Tracey clocked 3:41.25 to lead their team to victory in the girls’ 4×400 metres relay.
Holmwood (3:41.72) and Manchester High 3:41.76 finished second and third, respectively, while Vere Technical, the other Jamaican team in the final, was disqualified.
Edwin Allen was aided by a brilliant anchor led from Ristannana Tracey, who found extra gear in the last 60 metres to go by leader Petra Fantry of Holmwood and Natoya Goule of Manhester.

Jamaica’s Under-16 netballers began their defence of the Jean Pierre Caribbean Championships in impressive fashion when they thrashed Dominica 65-7 in the opening match last night at the Leila Robinson Courts.
In another game, the Cayman Islands defeated Guyana 25-18.
Deneen Taylor led the way for the junior Sunshine Girls by scoring 34 goals from 39 attempts. She received good support from Marvadean Anderson, who sunk 24 goals from 41 tries, and Vanessa Jones, with seven goals from 10 tries.
Andrea Remy led the way for the Dominicans with six goals from 13 attempts.
