A MountainWings Moment - Let Go‏

Let Go
=======

.

One day while climbing towards a high cliff a man slipped and
fell over the edge.

.

Frantic - he grabbed at a branch jutting out from a tree and
yelled out,

.

“Oh, God, help me.”

He looked down while holding on tight and saw only jagged rocks.

Clutching even tighter to the branch he cried out again,

“God…Please help me.”

Suddenly he felt God’s presence and heard God ask,

“My son, what can I do for you?’

.

The man, somewhat relieved, answered,

“Please God, help me. Save me.”

.

God said quietly,

.

“Do you love me?

.

Do you trust me?

Do you believe in me?”

.

“Yes, yes, I love you. I trust you and I believe in you,”
the man shouted.

“Well, if indeed you love me, trust me, and believe in me,

.

LET GO.”

.

With some hesitation and another look below at the jagged rocks,
the man asked,

.

“Is there anybody else up there I can talk to?”

.

We often seek other answers when our real answer can only come
when we “Let Go” of some things.

.

Though the above is an often-told joke, it is a true parable.
So often in counseling, I tell people the same thing.

“You have got to let go. That situation is killing you.
It is killing your peace, your finances, and your future.

.

You must let go!”

.

Often they will inwardly feel just as the hanging man asked,

“Is there anybody else that I can talk to, because I am afraid
to let go? I know the situation is killing me, that’s why I’m
here. I know that what I am holding on to is destined to die.
I know I cannot fully live while I remain embraced with it.

.

But I am soooo… afraid.

Afraid that I might fall if I let go.”

Like a person on drugs, you often must “come down” before you

The Bible gives timeless advice and direction on how to live a godly life

..

My granddaughter has a Nintendo DS. My grandson had a PlayStation, but he broke the screen. Now he wants to play with her Nintendo DS all the time. I have warned both of them against this. They don’t share well. If something happens to her Nintendo DS, she’s going to be upset and he’s going to have to pay for it. Despite my warnings, she continues to let him play with it.

..

This morning she was looking for her Nintendo, and discovered that her brother had taken it to school which, of course, is not allowed by me or the school. So, the tears started falling because now she’s afraid it’s going to get taken away.

..

I warned them that no good would come of this, but they didn’t listen. Now, he’s broken two rules—mine and the school’s—and she is in tears.
..
Isn’t this scenario similar to our Christian walk? The Bible provides us with a roadmap to life. The Book of Psalms and Proverbs, in particular, are filled with timeless warnings, instruction and guidelines for living fruitful, fulfilling and godly lives. But we don’t listen, or we bend the rules to make them more accommodating. Then,  when we don’t heed the instructions or warnings in the Bible, we cry foul and wonder what went wrong.
..
After a morning of my granddaughter’s tears and turmoil, I found myself searching Scripture to get me back to my place of peace, and I found what I needed. Psalm 85:8 reads, “I will listen to what God the Lord will say; He promises peace to His

5 essential traits to look for….

 .

Think your Mr. Next has the potential to be Mr. Right? Before you leap without looking, take an honest inventory. See how many of the following five essential traits he possesses.

..

Dating Trait #1: He listens to you

..

The best way to know if Mr. Next is interested in (and worthy of) being a candidate for Mr. Right? He listens to you. You’ll know he’s listening when he shows genuine concern, consistently remembers things you’ve told him (your birthday, favorite food, best friend’s name, etc.), and offers emotional support in honest and thoughtful ways.

..

Dating Trait #2: He connects with you easily

..

We’ve all been in those relationships that take W-O-R-K (and suck the life force out of us in the process). When a relationship works on its own, it feels effortless, easy, and fluid. You don’t have to force anything, forgive anyone, or turn a blind eye to red flags or gut-twisters. Instead, you communicate and collaborate with comfort, compatibility, and undeniable chemistry. If and when you experience this kind of interaction, you are on to something really special.

..

Dating Trait #3: He wants the real you

..

So often, women feel the need to sacrifice some part of themselves to make a relationship work. In the right relationship, there’s no need. You don’t have to hide, tone down, or apologize for any aspect of you or your fabulous life. With the right partner, you’re not only able to be yourself, but you’re better able to be the best version of your most authentic self — no compromises needed.

..

Dating Trait #4: He’s trustworthy

..

A relationship without trust is doomed from the start. But a relationship with abundant trust? A fabulous foundation for real

In God we trust

How many times have we picked up United States’ coins or currency and noticed the verbiage “In God We Trust?” As Christians what if we were required to have our foreheads imprinted with the words “In God We Trust?” Could we boldly wear that imprint, or would we be living a lie?

..

Proverbs 3:5-6 tell us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Most of us like to think that we do that, but when the mortgage is due and God hasn’t answered our prayers by 5 p.m. on Friday, if we trust God, why do we need a Plan B?

..

I have a friend who, whenever I share my ideas and thoughts with her, always asks: “And, if that doesn’t work, what’s Plan B?” She sometimes gets upset with me because I’m learning to live without a Plan B. Don’t get me wrong, I know that if I plan to take the Amtrak to Washington D.C., I can’t just sit in a chair and expect to arrive at my destination because I trust that God will get me there. There’s some human responsibility that needs to occur. It’s prudent and
