How To Mend A Broken Heart?
============================
.
How do you mend a broken heart?
.
We get a lot of prayer requests asking to simply pray for their
broken heart.
.
So what do you do when you’ve got a broken heart?
.
Here are four steps that will help you up that mountain.
.
1. Occupy 2. Gratify 3. Sanctify 4. Glorify.
.
Occupy:
Occupy your time, don’t sit around moping.
.
Do something.
.
Idleness is the soil of self-pity and depression. Get busy.
The best thing that you can do is to do something that helps
others. It’s a universal principle that when you start focusing
on helping others, your own problems are diminished.
Don’t just stand there, DO SOMETHING!
.
Gratify:
Write a list of the things you like, then pick three of those
things and put those things in your life - now.
Make sure you can afford them and that they aren’t harmful.
When our hearts are broken, we often deprive ourselves of the
things we enjoy. Make an effort to put enjoyment in your life.
.
Sanctify:
Do good. Don’t return evil for evil, hurt for hurt, pain for
pain. Don’t wish something horrible would happen to the other
person. Hope for their good fortune in your spirit, and it just

Doeth Good Like Medicine
<><><><><><><><><>

.
“A Merry heart doeth good like medicine.”
– Prov. 17:22 (KJV)
.
Hospital volunteers do no clinical work. Volunteers have no physically therapeutic treatment of offer. They dispense no medicine. But we cannot deny that they demonstrate the merry hearts as spoken of in Proverbs 17:22. At the core of volunteering is the fervent desire to “doeth good like medicine.” Because I am privileged to experience a daily confirmation of the good done by volunteers, it is very difficult to choose one vignette or narrow the choices of stories to one.
.
It was Christmas time and our elderly visitor was back to see her husband in the Intensive Care Unit. We had watched her daily visits, and could tell she was becoming more distant and distraught with each day. She was rather frail and unsteady on her feet, but refused any offer of assistance.
.
Volunteer John approached her on her way out, to offer her a ride back to her car in our shuttle as it was cold. She accepted reluctantly, almost as if in resignation. While helping her into the shuttle,

Miss Global Jamaica 2010 Shereen Sterling
.

Jamaican medical student Shereen Sterling (centre), winner of the Miss Global International 2010 competition, is flanked by second runner-up Marlene Lim (right) of Malaysia and Maria Isabel Figuera (first runner-up) of Venezuela on Sunday night’s final at the Grand Palladium in Hanover, Jamaica
.
Shereen Sterling was born in the parish of St. James on May 16, 1987. She was born a Jamaican and remained one ever since. She attended Catherine Hall Primary School located in Montego Bay, St. James. It was evident that she had many talents to portray.
..
Shereen started high school in 1999 at 11 years old where she immediately found herself in various clubs that shouted her personality. Shereen represented her school proudly as a track athlete, a singer (JCDC Festival and conferences), to name a few. She found her leadership qualities at an early age by being able to complete whatever task was given to her and being able to motivate her team body. While being so active in school she was also active in her community.
..
Shereen started Montego Bay Community college in 2007 and maintained great academic and extra-curriculum track records. Shereen was elected class representative and student council representative in her 1st year of college. She was an active member of the school choir and the ecology club and also did voluntary service in the Physiotherapy Department at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay. Shereen received a scholarship award from the Rotary of Montego East during her second year of college in 2008. Shereen graduated from Montego Bay Community College with distinctions and an Associate’s Degree in Natural Sciences.

When was the last time you were challenged to do something really…
well… great?
.
President Abraham Lincoln helped me to understand that there is a
bit of greatness within all of us. It is said that he often slipped
out of the White House on Wednesday evenings to listen to the
sermons of Dr. Phineas Gurley at New York Avenue Presbyterian
Church.
.
He generally preferred to come and go unnoticed, so when Dr.
Gurley knew the president was coming, he left his study door open.
On one of those occasions, the president quietly entered through a
side door of the church, took his seat in the minister’s study,
located just off the sanctuary, and propped the door open just wide
enough to hear the preacher.
.
During the walk home one Wednesday evening, an aide asked Mr.
Lincoln his appraisal of the sermon. The president thoughtfully
replied, “The content was excellent… he delivered with
eloquence… he had put work into the message..”
.
“Then you thought it was an excellent sermon?” questioned the aide.

A New Relationship with Time
(An excerpt from Dreams Are Whispers from the Soul)
..
Probably no other complaint is voiced more often than not having enough time.
“I don’t have time to pursue my dreams or to even know what my dreams are. I don’t have time for me, for my family and friends. Basically, I don’t have time to live my life.”
..
Passion is the ultimate time management tool for two reasons. First, when you are doing what you love, who cares about time? When you are with someone special, or listening to a great piece of music, or painting or volunteering, doesn’t time just fly by? Second, when you are doing what you love it often gets done faster.
